Job Description:

Area Manager (Specialised Cleaning/Shopping Centres) – Manchester Region

This role is advertised for 37.5 hours per week and involves overseeing the operations of three shopping centres across Greater Manchester, including Stretford Mall and Stamford Quarter. You’ll also manage a mobile team of 5 specialist cleaners responsible for portfolio wide ad‑hoc jobs such as carpet, window and builders cleans.

You’ll be working 5 out of 7 days, with most of the time being Monday to Friday and some weekend work where needed.

We want you to be able to manage your own time.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a team manager who has managed a similar sized team – motivated by inspiring others, treating colleagues with compassion, and supporting them to thrive in their roles. Management of cleaning teams would be an advantage, although we consider managers from facilities or related industries who can support large teams.

Our environment is supportive; we pay the real living wage to all our cleaners as well as sick pay, encouraging development and collaboration.

With this in mind it’s incredibly important that you are hands‑on and compassionate – treating colleagues and employees with empathy, and providing an environment where people feel respected and supported.

Job purpose:

As an Area Cleaning Manager you will manage, develop and motivate a team of supervisors and cleaners to deliver a high‑standard cleaning service across a diverse portfolio.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Creating, implementing and managing operational objectives for your area while remaining nimble and adaptable to our constantly changing environment.
  • Managing the end‑to‑end employee lifecycle, from recruitment to development, inspiring teams to deliver their best work.
  • Advising customers on cleaning specifications and providing tailored quotes based on customer requirements.
  • Helping shape and develop Unify as a best‑in‑class cleaning provider.
  • Providing operational insight using data to highlight focus areas for improving customer experience.
  • Collaborating with the wider team to ensure all elements of our service fit together for a seamless customer experience.
  • Ensuring quality, paying attention to detail, and driving continuous improvement, efficiency and consistency through standardisation, record keeping and health‑and‑safety compliance.
  • Applying specialist cleaning knowledge in areas such as strip and sealing floors, steam/carpet/ upholstery cleaning, and building cleans.

We believe that if you’re brilliant, you deserve bright rewards:

  • 28 days holiday, plus bank holidays, and your birthday off – you can also buy and sell holidays.
  • 24 hours a year volunteer time – opportunities to support causes that matter to you.
  • Sabbatical of up to 12 months after five years with us.
  • Healthcare cash plan for all colleagues, offering reimbursement for medical expenses like optical, dental and physiotherapy; free private healthcare cover on an opt‑in basis.
  • Life assurance cover for all colleagues.
  • Up to 8% matched pension scheme.
  • Discounts and cashback at leading retailers.
  • Enhanced maternity/shared parental leave – 26 weeks fully paid leave.
  • Interest‑free loans to pursue passions and up to £2000 toward learning a new skill.
