Chief Engineer / Systems Design Authority (SDA)
Series: NATO JEWCS Integrated Project Team (IPT), CEMA and ICS Sector. Base: South UK (Basildon, Southampton, Luton).
We are developing the next‑generation EW training systems across land, sea, air, and the supporting IT infrastructure for NATO exercises.
Responsibilities
- Act as Design Authority & Company Technical Signatory for required products.
- Lead technical direction and governance of solution delivery, ensuring adherence to safety, security, and regulatory standards.
- Represent the company with customers and end‑users to define technical solutions, supported by SMEs.
- Lead product assurance through design reviews and ensure company procedures are followed.
- Ensure delivered product design complies with safety, integrity, and contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with a multi‑disciplined project team and stakeholders throughout all phases.
- Own technical solution throughout development phases, coordinating with development teams and supply chain.
- Ensure compliance with performance, legislative, and contractual requirements and maintain traceable evidence.
- Drive robust quality, performance, cost, and time trade‑offs and align solutions with budgets and timelines.
- Develop and execute high‑level strategy for requirements mapping to traceable evidence across products and projects.
Qualifications
Essential Experience
- Strong background in developing complex military products.
- Experience developing systems solutions in radar/communications and EW domains.
- Experience with requirements, test qualification, and acceptance strategies.
- Experience managing design standards, configuration management, and design certification.
- Ability to deliver innovative technical solutions within programme budgets and timelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with SMEs and international end‑users.
- Self‑motivated leader, capable of working with minimum direction.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of EW equipment usage in customer domain.
- Experience in training development and software development.
- Degree qualified in relevant engineering or science discipline.
- Chartered engineer or member of the IET.
- Strong analytical and technical problem‑solving skills.

Location: Basildon (primary); Bristol, Luton, Southampton, Yeovil (additional).
Contract Type: Permanent.
Working Arrangements: Hybrid – approx. 2 days per week on site.
