Opportunity Overview

As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll play a critical role in supporting programmes that directly contribute to UK national security. Reporting to the OU Business Finance Manager, you’ll be a trusted partner to programme and leadership teams, providing insight, challenge and clarity to drive sound financial decision‑making.
Working within a fast‑paced and collaborative Business Finance team, you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of projects across the NSS business area. You don’t need a defence background – what matters is your business partnering experience, attention to detail and ability to influence through insight.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a leader within the Business Management function, collaborating across the organisation to support current and future programme needs
- Provide clear financial analysis and insight to programme and leadership teams, influencing operational and strategic decisions
- Take ownership of assigned accounts and programmes, ensuring accurate, timely and transparent financial management and reporting
- Deliver robust forecasting, including IF, AOP, EACs and contract reporting in line with company policy
- Support pricing activity for change orders, time and materials frameworks and complex opportunities
- Conduct regular project‑level financial reviews to ensure accurate revenue recognition and contract performance
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a Finance Business Partner or similar commercial finance role
- Strong numerical and analytical capability, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Power Query desirable)
- Commercially aware, with the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders
- Comfortable working autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment
- A proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability
