Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a BANK Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Gartree, a category B prison located in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. The Primary Care Nurse is based within the healthcare department and may also work within the prison wing. The role involves lone working during night shifts; therefore, experience in a secure environment where lone working has been undertaken is desirable.
Working hours
- Monday – Sunday
- Day shift: 7:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Night shift: 7:30 pm – 7:30 am
Hourly rate
- Weekdays: £23.83
- Nights: £25.68

Main duties of the job
- Work within a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and conduct reception screening
- Provide nurse‑led clinics to your patient group while being supported by a multi‑disciplinary team
- Deliver outstanding evidence‑based care, seeking out, listening to and acting upon patient feedback to personalize care
- Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning
- Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care and build strong multi‑disciplinary teams
Qualifications
- Registered nurse (adult) – NMC
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working
- Non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
Additional experience
- Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment – not essential but desirable
