Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced HV Cable Design Engineer to join our Energy Team to work on electrical substation design, major renewables, HVDC interconnectors, offshore grids, and FEED design across the UK.
The role involves working closely with other disciplines, supporting and leading design activities for transmission and distribution systems, cable routing layouts, trench layouts, cable sizing calculations, and coordination with civil substation engineering.

Pro‑active individual with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry and capable of coaching within a wider energy team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and preferred Chartered Engineer registration with Engineering Council and ICE.
- Experience in civil substation engineering and awareness of HV civil engineering projects.
- Experience in Design (Concept, FEED, and detail design) of transmission & distribution systems for utility companies based on international standards.
- Experience in inter‑disciplinary coordination and issue resolution.
- Hands‑on experience with cable design & production: cable routing layouts, trench & trenchless section layouts, cable bonding & phasing, cable pulling, termination and jointing arrangements.
- Experience with CYMCAP software and cable sizing calculations based on international standards.
- Ability to work under challenging workload and change.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD or MicroStation.
