Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Control Specialist with a strong background in the UK Banking domain. The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with hands‑on experience in month‑end close activities, balance sheet reconciliation, IFRS/UK GAAP, hedging, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities (R2R, P&L, balance sheet review).
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations, ensure accuracy, and resolve discrepancies.
• Handle journal entries including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, amortization, and reclassifications.
• Prepare financial statements and reports under IFRS and UK GAAP standards.
• Execute hedge accounting and related reporting activities.
• Support regulatory and P&L reporting in accordance with banking standards.
• Collaborate with FP&A teams for forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, governance, and audit requirements.
• Maintain detailed documentation and provide notes to accounts.
• Utilize advanced Excel for reconciliations, financial analysis, and variance reporting.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant: ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CA / CTA.
• Recent hands‑on experience in UK banking financial control.
• Strong experience with R2R and month‑end close activities.
• Expertise in Balance Sheet Reconciliation and FP&A.
• Solid understanding of IFRS, UK GAAP, and hedge accounting.
• Knowledge of Fixed Assets, Depreciation, Payroll, and Lease Accounting.
• Regulatory and P&L reporting exposure within banking.
• Proficiency in Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Macros, VLOOKUP, Power Query).
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in automation or process improvement within Financial Control.
• Exposure to financial systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Knowledge of data validation and control frameworks.
