WHAT IS THE ROLE?As an enthusiastic and safety-conscious
Yard Operative, youll be the first point of contact for customers arriving in the yard, ensuring they receive a warm welcome, efficient service, and the products they need to get the job done. Youll help keep the yard safe, organised, and well-stocked while supporting the wider branch team in delivering excellent customer service.
As a Yard Operative, youll play a vital role in making sure customers have a great experience every time they visit. Youll be part of a supportive, values-led business with a clear purpose of Building our future, through helping others build theirs.
Branch opening hours are Mon – Thurs 07.30 – 17.00 Fri 07.30 – 16.00 Sat 08.00 – 12.00 and we are flexible to consider a variety of working hours/patterns to suit your needs!
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
- Greet customers in a friendly, professional manner and assist with product enquiries.
- Safely load/unload vehicles and assemble customer orders for collection or delivery.
- Operate forklifts and handling equipment in line with safety procedures.
- Manage stock efficiently through ordering, replenishment, and participation in stock counts.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard environment.
- Work collaboratively with the branch team to achieve sales, margin, and service targets.
- Complete health & safety checks and mandatory training to company standards.
- Positively represent the company and contribute to our values of Decency, Passion, and Pride.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
- Experience in a similar role or trade environment is an advantage.
- Forklift licence (or willingness to train).
- Strong awareness and adherence of health & safety practices.
- Good communication skills with a positive, customer-first attitude.
- A team player who takes pride in their work and branch success.
- Willingness and aptitude for self development
