About the Digital Application practice

You will be part of the Digital Applications practice (DAS), working as part of the wider developer community. The team collaborates closely within DAS business line and the wider Atos network, partnering with multiple disciplines to deliver value on customer and internal initiatives. Our team brings together a diverse range of skills including delivery management, business analysis, application development and digital assurance. We’re a group of talented, thoughtful professionals, where you’ll be given the autonomy and trust to do your best work and make a meaningful impact.

About the Role

We’re looking for talented Full‑Stack Developers who enjoy solving complex problems and want to take real ownership of their work. While our core focus is on backend systems, we value engineers who understand the full stack and can contribute across the entire application lifecycle. You’ll be joining a small, highly collaborative team working on systems that support a public sector organisation and several stakeholders. Our environment is dynamic—no two days are the same—so we need developers who thrive on variety, are comfortable navigating ambiguity, and can respond quickly to evolving challenges. This is a role for someone who wants to make decisions, take responsibility, and have a genuine impact on the product, rather than just follow instructions.

Why Join Us?

  • Real ownership: You’ll have the autonomy to design, build, and deliver solutions—not just implement tickets.
  • Challenging work: Our projects are complex and meaningful, giving you opportunities to grow your technical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Flexible, remote‑first culture: Work independently or collaborate closely—whatever gets the best result.
  • Freedom with responsibility: We trust our developers to make informed decisions within a supportive team environment.
  • Varied day‑to‑day work: Expect a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment where your input genuinely matters.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and delivering high‑quality, maintainable code across backend and frontend systems.
  • Owning your work end‑to‑end: from solution design and implementation to testing, deployment, and release.
  • Investigating and resolving complex bugs and system issues with a pragmatic, solution‑focused approach.
  • Collaborating with developers, testers, and wider stakeholders to deliver value quickly and effectively.
  • Contributing to architectural decisions, particularly around microservices and cloud‑based systems.
  • Working across multiple services and systems, adapting to shifting priorities and business needs.
  • Maintaining clear documentation, ticket updates, and audit trails for transparency and accountability.

What We’re Looking For

We want developers who are proactive, confident, and collaborative. People who don’t wait to be told what to do, but actively seek, then call out solutions and improvements.

Core Requirements

  • Solid understanding of backend development principles and best practices.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure, ideally including service bus, cloud‑native architectures.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience working across the full development lifecycle.

Nice to Have

  • Data & integrations: SQL scripting, ETL processes.
  • Experience working in or with GDS standards (GOV.UK Design System).

How You Work

  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of tasks.
  • Strong collaborator who communicates clearly with remote teams.
  • Pragmatic problem solver who can make informed decisions quickly.
  • Self‑motivated, organised, and accountable for your work.
  • Keeps clear documentation and communicates progress effectively.
  • Willing to ask questions and seek clarity—never struggles in silence.

Security Clearance

SC clearance is desirable, but you must be eligible for SC clearance at a minimum.

Benefits

  • Pension Scheme—contributions matched up to 10%.
  • Private medical cover.
  • Income protection.
  • Life assurance.
  • 25 days paid leave plus national holidays.
  • Flex benefits programme.
