What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take ownership of core backend data systems from design through to delivery at a level that genuinely shapes the platform. Day to day, that means:
- Owning the design and delivery of backend data systems and APIs
- Defining how data is aggregated, stored, and consumed across the platform
- Building scalable, high-performance data pipelines and services
- Influencing architectural direction and technology choices across the engineering org
- Driving engineering best practices and mentoring less senior engineers
- Collaborating cross-functionally to deliver data-driven product features
Your Impact

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong experience building distributed backend systems
- Background in data platforms, ETL, or data warehousing
- Solid experience with APIs and backend frameworks
- Strong SQL and database optimisation skills
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers
Desirable
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience working in cross-functional product teams
- Familiarity with modern data architecture patterns
