What You’ll Do as Business Analyst – Planning and Ranging (12‑Month FTC)

  • Serves as a core Technology role within the Analysis Practice, supporting the successful delivery of projects and programmes across the Technology portfolio and allocated based on skills, experience, and domain expertise.
  • Leads the identification, capture, prioritisation, and validation of business and technical requirements and user stories, working closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet Primark’s strategic goals.
  • Analyses and documents as‑is and to‑be business processes, identifies improvement opportunities, and translates business needs into product‑based delivery requirements.
  • Owns end‑to‑end requirements traceability across the delivery lifecycle (design, build, test, and deployment), collaborating with development teams to ensure solutions align with business needs.
  • Supports quality and deployment activities, including QA and UAT planning, defect triage and prioritisation, and acting as a key contact during hyper‑care for user‑reported issues post‑deployment.
  • Works collaboratively across Product, Technology, business teams, partners, and suppliers, championing Primark’s business analysis methodology, contributing to the Community of Practice, and supporting discovery, business cases, training, and adoption of new systems and processes.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on experience in a Business Analysis or business relationship management role within a retail environment, ideally with Buying & Merchandising expertise and experience delivering Assortment Planner or WSSI solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of the software delivery lifecycle, system design concepts, and system capabilities, with proven experience working as a Business Analyst in a software development context.
  • Practical experience operating within Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban, and using project and backlog management tools including Jira, Azure DevOps, and Confluence.
  • Demonstrated retail and/or e‑commerce domain expertise, supported by a logical, analytical, and detail‑oriented mindset with strong problem‑solving and business interpretation skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders and articulate business needs to technical teams.
  • Relevant degree, equivalent qualification, or experience, with desirable attributes including awareness of industry technologies and trends, familiarity with data tools (e.g. Power BI or Tableau), and professional certifications (IIBA, BCS, Scrum Alliance, or equivalent).
