LOCUM – Senior Nurse

Job Overview

We are currently looking for a LOCUM senior practice nurse to support our surgery whilst we recruit a new permanent nurse to join us. Circa 20 hours a week, competitive rates, days/hours to be discussed.

Main Duties

• Chronic Disease Management: Running regular clinics to screen, monitor, and treat long-term conditions such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension, delivery of QOF targets as part of a team. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate.
• Women’s and Sexual Health: Delivering family planning advice, prescribing or administering contraception, and performing cervical cytology (smear tests).
• Immunisations and Travel Health: Administering childhood immunisations, baby injections, and providing travel health advice and vaccinations.

Essential Qualifications

• NMC Registration: Valid and unrestricted registration as an Adult Nurse (RNA/RGN).
• Nursing Degree: BSc (Hons) or Diploma of Higher Education in Adult Nursing.
• Cervical Cytology: Recognised qualification and current certification in cervical screening.
• Immunisation Training: Up-to-date certification in childhood immunisation and travel health.
