Location: Leeds
Job Description:

Welcome to the Academy for the Ambitious.

Think of Oakland Futures as a launchpad, not a classroom. Four weeks of initial training. Real projects. Real clients. Real pressure (the good kind). If you’re hungry to break into the world of data, this is your chance to learn from some of the best in the business in an entry‑level role.

Why Oakland?

Oakland is one of the UK’s leading data consultancies and is home to some of the brightest minds in data, engineering, and analytics. When you join us, you’re not watching from the sidelines; you’re getting stuck in, joining a team of experts who’ll challenge you, support you, and push you to be your best.

Here, you’ll:

  • Learn from industry leaders.
  • Get a dedicated mentor and a personal training budget every year.
  • Be part of a community that values collaboration, curiosity, and courage.
  • Work on projects that matter to clients, to society, and to your career.

Work Hard. Learn Fast. Have Fun.

We’ll be honest – this programme isn’t for everyone. It’s intense, fast, and full‑on. But you’ll also have a blast. Expect team breakfasts, community days, and plenty of laughs in between the learning.

Location:

Leeds (Hybrid – 4 days in the office, Monday to Thursday; Friday work from home)

The role

As a Business Advisory Consultant on the Oakland Futures Programme, you’ll gain hands‑on experience working across a range of business advisory services, including project management, business analysis, data management, and strategy. You’ll collaborate with clients and colleagues to tackle complex challenges, combining research, data analysis, interviews, and guided workshops to uncover insights and create value.

This is an entry‑level role designed to help you explore multiple specialisms during the programme, so you can identify the path that best suits your skills and aspirations. From day one, you’ll also support our sales teams with early‑stage workshops and proposals, giving you exposure to client‑facing work and real‑world impact.

What you’ll do

  • Before joining client work, you’ll participate in a 4‑week structured training bootcamp to learn about Oakland’s core propositions and offerings, developing foundational skills in research, analysis, and consulting.
  • Rotate through different business advisory roles to explore your interests and identify your best‑fit career path.
  • Work with clients to identify opportunities for AI adoption, data platform development, and long‑term technology roadmaps.
  • Conduct research, analyse data, and develop insights to inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Facilitate workshops and interviews to understand client challenges and shape tailored solutions.
  • Support internal teams with proposals, project planning, and early‑stage client engagements.
  • Communicate findings clearly to teammates and clients, presenting insights in a structured and engaging way.

About you

  • You love working with data and using evidence to inform decisions.
  • You’re curious, proactive, and eager to learn, taking ownership of your development.
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy experimenting, problem‑solving, and finding clarity in complex situations.
  • You’re methodical and detail‑oriented, organised, and able to meet deadlines effectively.
  • You’re a confident communicator who can present ideas clearly to colleagues and clients.
  • You enjoy collaborating within teams but can also take initiative and work independently.

Qualifications

  • Degree/bootcamp/apprenticeship in an analytical or business‑related field (e.g. Business, Economics, Finance, STEM) or equivalent industry experience.
