LABORATORY ANALYST

Beaminster, Dorset

Temporary on-going contract (potential for permanent)

Monday to Friday (07:30am to 15:30pm)

Pay: £13.56 per hour, increasing to £14.13 per hour after 3 months

Location requirement: Must live within 30 miles of DT8 Beaminster.

Our client is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to join them on a temporary on-going basis. For the right candidate it could lead to a permanent position. The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Chemical Analysis

  • HPLC analysis of nisin concentration; ensuring all stages of production and final product conform to company specifications.
  • Microbiological analysis at all production stages and final product, maintaining compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Monitoring plant hygiene and maintaining culture stocks.

Hygiene (Technical) Audits

  • Participate in site hygiene audits to help maintain company safety and hygiene standards.
  • Contribute to behaviour-based safety (BBS) observational programmes and attend all relevant site, SHEQ, improvement and team meetings.

Company Databases

  • Maintain all site QC databases.
  • Prepare data for meetings.
  • Provide technical advice to managers regarding laboratory-derived data and its interpretation.

Qualifications

  • Pass degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Microbiology, or laboratory qualification to HNC/HND level with relevant experience in food-based laboratories.
  • NVQ Level 3 in science-based studies with relevant experience considered.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform routine and non-routine tasks accurately.

Requirements

  • Passport or Birth Certificate with proof of National Insurance.
