Role Overview
The WalkIn Service, hosted by the Out of Hours Primary Care (GMED) team, is seeking an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join a dynamic, responsive urgent care service that provides same‑day access to urgent primary care without the need for a booked appointment.
Responsibilities
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner within the WalkIn Centre, you will provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and onward referral for patients across all ages presenting with undifferentiated illness, minor or major injury and urgent medical conditions. You will work closely with GP colleagues, the Clinical Lead, Service Manager and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, safe and person‑centred care. You will practise with a high level of clinical autonomy, supported by evidence‑based practice, NHS Grampian policies and professional guidelines, and will play an active role in service development, audit, education and clinical leadership within the WalkIn Service.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
- Degree level education with Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification or evidence of Master’s‑level practice
- Independent prescribing and advanced clinical assessment skills
- Experience working in urgent care, primary care, minor injury or equivalent settings
Benefits and Conditions
Posts available: 0.5 WTE (18.5 hours per week) at Aberdeen Health Village. Flexibility is essential; the role includes evening and weekend working with enhanced pay rates for unsocial hours. Contract: Fixed term (12 months). Salary: Band 7 (Agenda for Change) with enhancements for unsocial hours.
