Trust Locum Consultant Acute Paediatrics
East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is recruiting a general paediatrician to join our team.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will contribute acutely to a 1:5 hot week/on-call rota. Additionally, we are looking for individuals who can provide clinical leadership, driving forward initiatives and improvements within the department.
This is a part-time post and we are committed to flexible working, with some sessions being delivered remotely.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent Full registration with GMC and a licence to practice
- Holds CCT or equivalent or will obtain within 6 months of interview date
- MRCPCH
- Valid Level 3 Safeguarding training
- Distinctions, Scholarships prizes, other degrees eg BSc MSc, MS
- SPIN Module in Diabetes
Audit
- Evidence of participation in audit projects
- Evidence of leading audit projects
Research
- An understanding of general principles, scientific method and interpretation of literature.
- Evidence of personal research projects and their presentation
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
Motivation
- Punctuality, reliability
- A sympathetic approach to patients and relatives
- To have undertaken a postgraduate course on communication skills (or ensure that you have undertaken one within one year of appointment)
- Ability to establish good professional relations with others
- Common sense and enthusiasm
- Initiative
- A commitment to lead and develop a high quality regional clinical service
CV
- An appropriate, well organised and clearly presented CV indicating experience in the training of Specialist Trainees.

Teaching

- Possession of certificates or diplomas of special Expertise in teaching.
Ability to operate within wider NHS context
- Understands the NHS system nationally, regionally and locally.
- Aware of the issues affecting current & future NHS practice
- Understands the concepts and principals of clinical governance
- Evidence of ability to act as an ambassador for ESHT with our partners.
Management
- Evidence of organisational ability
- Will have attended a National Health Service Management Course appropriate to Consultant duties.
