Job Description:

Operations Manager (Conference and Events) – Newmarket and Huntingdon Racecourses is a full‑time, permanent role with a salary up to £33,000 plus benefits. We are looking for a passionate hospitality professional to manage the Conference and Events operation at Newmarket Racecourses and support Huntingdon Racecourse. The role plays a key part in delivering outstanding hospitality at renowned horse‑racing venues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the allocated casual team members to set up and break down meeting rooms and deliver live conference and events
  • Review weekly payroll and assist in managing variable payroll to meet financial targets while supporting operational needs
  • Act as a central point of contact for C&E operational queries
  • Attend regular meetings and briefings to ensure communication with all stakeholders
  • Develop strong working relationships with the hospitality team at Newmarket
  • Use function sheets to gather customer expectations, room setup and menu requirements
  • Collaborate with the chef team to ensure special diets and allergens are managed on event days
  • Ensure all H&S policy and procedures are followed
  • Support People Operations in recruitment, selection, induction and retention practices for the C&E department
  • Lead team welfare and engagement activities for C&E
  • Generate and cost new ‘look and feel’ ideas to uplift service styles

Qualifications

  • Some experience of delivering live conferences, meetings and events
  • A positive, approachable, and troubleshooter mindset
  • Strong organisational, communication and computer skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and meet deadlines
  • Self‑starter, motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery
