Locum Consultant Clinical Geneticist

Locum Consultant in the department of Leeds Clinical Genomics Service – 6‑month full‑time (10 P A) post located at Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant cover for Leeds and regional paediatric and adult general genetics clinics.
• Deliver specialist activity in prenatal clinics, cancer clinics and inherited cardiac conditions.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary teams in oncology, fetal medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology and musculoskeletal services.
• Support research, innovation, service development and transformation projects.
• Educate and train medical students, doctors and other health professionals.
• Prepare an 8‑minute presentation on “The changing role of the Clinical Geneticist: where will we be in 10 years?” for shortlisted candidates.

Qualifications

• MRCP or MRCPCH (or equivalent) with established skills in Clinical Genetics.
• Admitted to the Specialist Register at interview or eligible to be admitted before post start date.
• Experience in general and specialist genetics services, and in providing consultant cover for paediatric and adult clinics.
• Experience in delivering a variety of genetics clinics and working with multidisciplinary teams.
