Senior Integration Specialist

You will design, develop and maintain interfaces using Intersystems Health Connect integration engine. You will have strong technical skills, with experience in relational database management, HL7, Web services/XML. Experience with AWS and GitLab is advantageous. Experience within the NHS is not required.
As an adept facilitator and communicator, you will liaise with suppliers to deliver data integration across the Trust. Working closely with colleagues in Operations, IT and other Trust counterparts, you will investigate underlying data integrity issues and provide proven problem‑solving solutions. You will advise on strategic technical developments to support operational and clinical areas and work with system administrators to deliver the Trust’s IM&T strategy.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the TIE, an IT system critical to the delivery of patient care across the Trust, is managed in full compliance with Trust IM&T Policies and the National Information Governance Toolkit. All system integration, managed through the TIE, must follow industry‑standard processes to ensure data quality and system availability.
- Document and follow policies and procedures, scheduling regular reviews.
- Report actual and potential security incidents appropriately.
- Investigate data quality incidents and complete associated action plans in a timely manner.
- Record all system interruptions and maintain high availability.
The post holder will provide subject‑matter expertise as the technical lead for data migration and interfacing elements of Trust projects, ensuring completion and sign‑off of data mapping, transformation and testing of the migration.
The post holder may develop IT system software, web services and websites and must keep up‑to‑date with industry standards and technology.
Education / Qualification
- Degree (BSc) in a specialist computing subject, coupled with postgraduate degree or equivalent.
- In‑depth knowledge of IM&T systems and procedures acquired through specialist training and study at a level equivalent to a degree.
- Structured training or self‑learning to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving technology environment.
- Advanced level training in at least one web‑development tool using ASP.NET, ASP, HTML.
- Practical experience at an advanced level using and developing Microsoft databases, spreadsheets, and MS Office solutions.
- Expert knowledge of advanced features of server and database management.
- Data input and manipulation skills.
- PRINCE2 Project Management qualification.
- Accredited Microsoft training in SQL Server Administration.
- Practical experience managing large complex integration‑engine solutions.
Knowledge & Experience
- Substantial senior practical experience in the design and development of highly complex applications.
- Experience designing and developing Microsoft SQL Server, working at an advanced level with SQL and MS SQL functions.
- Expertise in enterprise systems architecture, integration of healthcare sector data standards (HL7 v2/v3/FHIR), web technologies (web services, XML/JSON, REST APIs), and software development.
- Ability to analyse problems and business requirements logically and translate them into technical proposals.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, analysing, interpreting and resolving highly complex data/information problems.
- Lengthy and broad experience with NHS acute care organisations or equivalents.
- Experience with Intersystems HealthConnect.
- Experience developing integration solutions with HL7, Web services/XML, files.
- Experience in implementing data validation and verification solutions to enhance data integrity and quality.
- Experience in transforming NHS datasets for differing purposes.
- Experience with acute hospital information systems and patient administration systems.
- Practical experience managing large complex integration‑engine solutions and technical change control.
- Experience with source control and cloud deployment methods (GitLab).
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS).
