Senior Software Engineer, Product Engineering, UK

Hi I’m Abhik, Ashby’s Co-Founder and VP of Engineering. We’re looking for an ambitious full‑stack engineer who is laser‑focused on solving customer problems and making the right long‑term investments to solve them not only today but in our future features and products.

Responsibilities

• Designed and built automated interview scheduling. This feature automatically calculates possible interview times from a pool of interviewers and other constraints, presents these times to candidates via our responsive web app, and helps solve the “Calendar Tetris” problem.
• Built a generalized declarative filter architecture that allows users to create complex filters for any record with a consistent UI and compiles the filters to SQL on the backend. Many user‑facing features use this architecture.
• Specced, designed, and implemented a feature that allows users to complete signing offers entirely within Ashby. The project involved talking to customers, deciding on technologies, building a prototype, and integrating the final implementation into other features.

• You’re not afraid to tackle any part of a technology stack. You do what’s necessary to successfully deliver a feature, whether writing frontend or choosing new infrastructure.
• You’ve tackled projects with a lot of product and technical ambiguity, and you thrive at the intersection of the two.
• You know how to strike the right balance between speed and quality. Ashby was built over four years to deliver a high‑quality product while moving with urgency.
• You are ambitious and always looking to improve your skills. The role gives you more freedom and responsibilities than most engineers have experienced.
• You’re an excellent collaborator and communicator. Ownership and freedom don’t mean you work in a vacuum; you need to vet decisions with stakeholders and keep them updated.
• You seek to create leverage by automating or abstracting tedious work—creating new tools, lint rules, or debugging aids.

Compensation Range: £103K – £137K
