Field Service Engineer – Physical Security Systems

Location: North London / St Albans (M25 corridor)

Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 basic + uncapped overtime + on-call allowance (OTE: £50,000 – £55,000+)

Overview

We’re hiring a Field Service Engineer to join a leading UK provider of physical security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles). This is a hands‑on field role suited to engineers with experience working on larger machinery, agricultural equipment, or PLC‑controlled systems, alongside strong mechanical capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, service and repair security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles)
• Fault‑find across mechanical and basic electrical/PLC systems
• Attend breakdowns and support reactive maintenance
• Participate in on‑call rota (1 in 5 → 1 in 6)
• Complete digital job reports and liaise with clients on‑site
• Travel regionally with occasional overnight stays

Requirements

• Strong mechanical engineering background (essential)
• Experience with larger machinery / plant / agricultural equipment / PLC‑controlled systems
• Basic electrical knowledge (e.g. 3‑phase, 24v systems, 18th Edition desirable)
• Full UK driving licence
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and in confined spaces
• Flexible for travel, overtime and weekends

Mandatory Security & Clearance (Non‑Negotiable)

• Right to work in the UK (documentation required)
• 5 years continuous UK residency
• 5 years continuous employment history (fully traceable)
• No criminal convictions
• British passport required

• Uncapped overtime (1.3x weekdays + weekends)

• 22 days holiday + BH (rising to 25)
