Senior Staff Nurse – Medical Ward

London: The Princess Grace Hospital

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Shift times: Monday – Sunday (flexibility to work long days, nights & weekends 8AM – 8:30PM and 8PM – 8:30AM)

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Competitive plus 9% shift allowance

Responsibilities

As a Senior Staff Nurse you will:

  • Lead and manage the day‑to‑day operations of the 19‑beded Acute Medical Ward.
  • Deliver safe, effective, patient‑centred care in a fast‑paced acute medical environment.
  • Conduct strong clinical assessment and decision‑making for acutely unwell patients.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Medical Consultants, to support the First‑Hour pathway for Acute Medical admissions.
  • Support the post‑operative pathway for breast surgery patients and day‑case procedures such as iron infusions and interventional radiology (e.g., biopsies).
  • Participate in continuous improvement and share expertise to enhance service quality.

Qualifications—Essential

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) with PREP qualifications.
  • Proven experience in an Acute Medical Ward, AAU or A&E with a desire to move to a ward‑based environment.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Passion for delivering high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications—Desirable

  • Demonstrated leadership or experience acting as nurse in charge.
  • Previous Senior Staff Nurse or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching/mentorship qualification.
  • Experience in private healthcare settings.
