Job Description:

Cricklade – Salary up to £45,000 plus annual bonus and competitive benefits. Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Rotational shifts 07:00–15:00 or 15:15–23:15, with overtime available at 1.5x.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and hands‑on Maintenance Engineer to join a busy and growing manufacturing site. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to maximise uptime and reliability.
  • Responding quickly to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and implementing effective repairs.
  • Maintaining and repairing a range of mechanical and electrical equipment including motors, drives, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Supporting installation, upgrades, and improvement projects across the site.
  • Identifying root causes of recurring issues and driving long‑term solutions.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with regulations and best practice.
  • Keeping accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Providing flexible support across shifts and occasionally across multiple sites.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Proven experience in a maintenance role within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Multi‑skilled background, ideally electrically biased (mechanical candidates with some electrical knowledge considered).
  • Strong fault‑finding skills and the ability to read electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of motors, drives, and control systems.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Good IT skills and ability to maintain records.
  • Flexible, team‑oriented approach with the ability to work independently.
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport (location 15 minutes outside of Swindon).

Desirable

  • Electrical qualification beneficial (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds, 17th or 18th Edition).

Mechanical Qualifications Or Strong Mechanical Experience

  • Welding, fabrication, or machining skills.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, and gearboxes.
  • PLC fault‑finding experience.
  • Knowledge of BS 7671 testing and inspection.
