Job Details:
- Location: St Peter & St James Hospice, BN8 4ED
- Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
- Weekly working hours: 37.5 hours (Monday – Friday with occasional weekends)
- Shift times: Working hours can be flexible between 9.00am – 5:00pm and 10.30am – 6:30pm
- Salary: £23,900 – £24,200 (Full-time equivalent)

Driving is not essential for this role; however, due to our rural location and lack of direct public transport links, candidates must have reliable access to suitable transport to attend work as required.

As Housekeeping Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across our hospice, ensuring a safe and comforting space for patients, families, and staff.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and offices to a high standard.
- Using a variety of cleaning methods and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensuring waste is disposed of correctly and infection control procedures are followed.
- Maintaining patient dignity and privacy at all times.
- Supporting the wider team in creating a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in housekeeping or cleaning roles.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and understanding of health and safety.
- A flexible, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organised and able to work to deadlines.
- A commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
