Position Summary

ScotSTAR West Base at Glasgow Airport is looking for a Paediatric Locum Consultant to work within the ScotSTAR Paediatric Retrieval Service operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS). This is a six‑month fixed‑term placement from August 2026 to February 2027. The role involves 10 sessions per week with the Retrieval Team, primarily by road but also 25 % by air using rotary‑wing, fixed‑wing aircraft and the Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter.

Qualifications

The post is suitable for specialty trainees who have completed specialty training (or will obtain CCT within the next 6 months) in paediatric intensive care medicine, paediatric anaesthesia, adult intensive care and/or anaesthesia (with regular paediatric exposure), or paediatric emergency medicine (with regular paediatric intensive care exposure).

Details

The service provides a secondary critical‑care patient transfer service for paediatric patients under 16 years in Scotland. The post is based at the ScotSTAR West base at Glasgow Airport.
