NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service – Staff Bank Band 7 Pharmacist

Role Overview

We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland, serving a population of approximately 900,000 across Edinburgh City, East Lothian, Midlothian, and West Lothian. The Pharmacy & Medicines Service delivers clinically‑led, person‑centred care in acute, mental health, community hospital and primary care settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality pharmacy care across a range of settings, including acute hospitals, mental health facilities, community hospitals and GP practices.
  • Work flexibly on an ad‑hoc basis, supporting short‑ and long‑term opportunities as required.
  • Contribute to project work and support initiatives aimed at improving medication management and patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) or equivalent, with completion of the Post‑Registration Foundation Programme or equivalent competence.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Ability to work across a variety of healthcare settings and adapt to changing demands.

Working Conditions

  • Staff bank role offered on an “as and when required” basis, with various shift patterns to accommodate flexible working.
  • No guaranteed fixed number of hours each week; service demands determine workload.
  • Shifts booked via the NHS Lothian staff‑bank booking system, accessible on computer or mobile device.
