Location: Hastings
Job Description:

Are you looking for a role where you can shape how teaching develops across a whole college group? Do you want to inspire colleagues, champion great pedagogy, and help embed AI in ways that genuinely improve teaching and reduce workload?

Our Teaching and Quality Advanced Practitioners (TQAPs) are at the heart of teacher development at East Sussex College. You’ll joining a high-trust, low-ego team of expert practitioners who are passionate about their craft and committed to helping others thrive.

Working across curriculum areas, you will coach colleagues, lead high‑impact CPD and help create a culture where every teacher, regardless of experience, has the opportunity to grow. We believe that the best improvements in teaching come through collaboration, reflection, and inspiration, not compliance.

This is a pivotal time to join the team. We are embedding a new structured staff induction programme, rolling out HOW2 as our college‑wide CPD platform, and thoughtfully integrating AI into everyday teaching practice. This isn’t about maintaining the status quo; you’ll play a key role in shaping how teaching and learning evolves across the college.

This exciting role will include:

  • Coaching a caseload of teachers across A Level and vocational provision, supporting sustained improvements through developmental cycles, observations, and professional dialogue.
  • Designing and delivering engaging, evidence‑informed CPD; from teacher‑led events and whole‑college sessions to targeted departmental support.
  • Leading on AI and digital pedagogy, helping colleagues use emerging technologies confidently, ethically, and effectively.
  • Supporting staff induction and embedding consistent, high‑quality teaching practices across the college, including the rollout of HOW2.

If you can demonstrate the following, then we’d love to hear from you:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (Level 5 or 6, e.g. PGCE, CertEd, DET or equivalent) and a strong track record of excellent teaching practice.
  • Practical, confident use of AI and digital tools to enhance teaching, improve efficiency, and reduce workload.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills, with the ability to build trust quickly and work effectively with colleagues at all levels of experience.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach, with the resilience and enthusiasm to thrive in a varied and evolving role.
  • Closing date: 10th June 2026
  • Interview Date: 15th June 2026

College location: Based at our Hastings Campus

Annual salary: Circa £42,900 FTE (Subject to qualifications, skills and experience)

Hours: Full Time – 37 Hours/52.14 Weeks

August 2026 Start

In return, we can offer you: A competitive FE salary, generous annual leave & pension, access to funded teaching qualifications, apprenticeships and a range of other training courses to support career development, as well as many other benefits.
