Senior Compliance Manager – Data, Personal Data & Compliance Risks

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to play a key role in strengthening the compliance framework, with a focus on data protection and personal data risk.
In this role, you will help design, implement, and maintain a robust, risk-based compliance programme. You will provide independent oversight and practical guidance on compliance risks, particularly in relation to GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Acting as a trusted adviser, you will support governance forums, enhance internal controls, and promote a strong compliance culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and challenge on compliance risk management
- Conduct compliance monitoring in line with the compliance plan
- Support the ongoing development and effectiveness of the compliance framework
- Produce clear management information and risk reports
- Assist with implementation of regulatory changes and control improvements
- Contribute to governance forums and stakeholder updates
- Review policies, procedures, and training materials
- Support engagement with regulators and internal stakeholders
- Assist the Data Protection Officer with GDPR compliance activities
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory advisory within financial services
- In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks (FCA, PRA, Bank of England)
- Solid understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them practically
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive and adaptable approach in a changing regulatory environment
- Familiarity with international market regulations and standards
- Experience supporting Data Protection Officers
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CIPP, CIPM, CISA)
Background
- Degree in a relevant discipline; professional qualifications advantageous
- Around 5+ years’ experience in compliance or risk within financial services
