SEND Assessment Officer – (SEND Assessment and Review Service, Town Hall, South Shields) – £41,771 pa
Overview
South Tyneside Council is looking for passionate and highly motivated individuals who are committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The SEND Assessment & Review Service plays a critical role in ensuring that children and young people with SEND receive appropriate support and services to meet their unique learning needs so that they can learn, grow and achieve.
Responsibilities
- Act as a caseworker for children and young people with SEND, collaborating and liaising with young people, parents/carers, education, health, social care, and a wide range of service providers to oversee the assessment and planning of needs assessments.
- Be part of a team responsible for statutory EHC needs assessment and monitoring of the support children and young people with SEND receive to ensure that they meet positive outcomes and are prepared for adulthood.
Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant subject.
- Significant SEND experience, including SEND casework experience.
- Experience working in local government or other similar organisations.
- Experience of staff management.
- Successful relevant experience of working in SEND and knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
- Thorough knowledge of the Ofsted local area SEND inspection framework.
- Effective use of specialist ICT packages.
- High level of interpersonal and initiative skills.
