Solicitor (Auctions) – Commercial Property – 2‑3 Years PQE – Cardiff

Location: Cardiff

Type of Role: Permanent, Full‑time

Salary: £40,000 to £60,000 (depending on experience)

A modern, fast‑growing law firm in Wales is seeking a Solicitor to join its specialist Auctions team within the wider Commercial Property department. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of auction property matters, acting for private individuals, investors, housing associations, and corporate clients, while supporting senior lawyers on complex and high‑value transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Residential and commercial auction transactions
  • Preparing comprehensive auction legal packs, including title documents, searches, leases, special conditions, and planning papers
  • Advising clients on legal risks associated with auction sales and purchases, including restrictive covenants, easements, overage, and complex title issues
  • Handling pre‑auction enquiries and liaising with estate agents, auction houses, surveyors, and clients
  • Managing post‑auction processes, including contract completion, deposits, and registration formalities
  • Acting on the sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold properties, including investment properties and those subject to tenancies
  • Advising on repossessions, probate sales, and properties sold by mortgagees in possession or public bodies
  • Working on high‑value and portfolio auction transactions
  • Liaising with lenders on secured lending matters involving auction properties
  • Supporting Commercial and Residential Property teams with technical auction related advice
  • Maintaining accurate records using a Case Management System
  • Ensuring deadlines are met within the fast‑paced auction environment
  • Staying up to date with auction and property law developments
  • Supporting departmental objectives and business development initiatives
  • Managing a small team of legal assistants
  • Maintaining strict client and firm confidentiality

Candidate Requirements

  • 2‑3 years PQE preferred (but not essential)
  • Strong experience in property law, ideally with exposure to auction transactions
  • Thorough understanding of the auction process and its legal complexities
  • Experience handling complex conveyancing matters, including unregistered land, adverse possession, and tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent client‑facing skills and a proactive, solution‑focused approach
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Case Management Systems and legal technology
  • Ability to support business development and build client relationships
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Strong IT literacy, numeracy, and organisational skills
  • A collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
