PAT Testing Engineer Torpoint

Job Overview

JR PAT Testing is expanding rapidly across the UK and is looking for experienced Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) engineers to join our team in Torpoint. Positions are self‑employed, offering flexible hours and the option to work either part‑time or full‑time.

Responsibilities

• Travel to various locations (hospitals, retail outlets, offices) to conduct PAT tests on electrical appliances such as microwaves, kettles, and computers.
• Use calibrated test instruments to determine whether appliances are safe for use or require repair or replacement.
• Inform users of test results and explain any safety issues.
• Record findings in a dedicated PAT test report book or electronic system and provide employers with a copy.
• Complete any additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.
• Maintain a high level of organization, ensuring all tests are completed accurately and efficiently.

Qualifications & Requirements

• City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
• Own insurance and calibrated testing equipment, calibrated at least once a year.
• Reliable, honest, and proactive with a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
• Experience and proven competence in line with the City & Guilds standard.
• Ability to commute to Torpoint or travel nationally as required.
• Self‑employed status with the ability to manage own contracts.
• Discuss salary on a pro‑rate basis based on the rate per appliance, number of tests, and job dynamics.
