Our Governance & Analytics department is looking for an enthusiastic and highly analytical Senior Cost & Data Consultant to join our team on a 14 month basis. You will work on a range of strategic-level projects involving key national and international stakeholders, supporting Lidl’s rapid expansion.
Salary: £61,600*–£88,000* per annum. 35 days annual holiday (pro‑rata). 10% in‑store discount.
Hybrid working model: Spend at least three days in the office, with up to two days from home.
Please note: This is a temporary assignment that may become permanent. The colleague on the temporary assignment will have first refusal on the permanent role, subject to satisfactory performance.
What you’ll do
- Manage operational and capital expenditure accounts.
- Identify and understand spend drivers through in‑depth analysis.
- Oversee cross‑departmental operational budget planning.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on monthly budget updates and mid‑year financial plan revisions.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive reporting, including KPI dashboards.
- Act as the point of contact for cost management for relevant internal departments.
- Ensure the organisation’s internal cost‑management procedures are accurate and well‑maintained.
- Present financial updates to senior management when required.
- Oversee the update and any relevant communication of all cost‑management tools.
- Liaise with category managers to identify and implement cost‑saving potential.
- Provide advice and guidance to category managers on cost‑management topics.
- Manage communication with Lidl INT counterparts.
- Work on strategic projects with high levels of autonomy and leadership, including exposure to the Board of Directors.
- Identify service optimisation and value‑improvement opportunities with main stakeholders.
- Provide support to the wider team throughout the year.
What you’ll need
- Experience in an analytical role with a track record of managing cost and data‑analysis projects.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills to build relationships and manage expectations in cross‑functional teams.
- Attention to detail, thoroughness, and analytical mindset.
- Expertise in creating clear and concise reports and dashboards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Advanced knowledge of Google Workspace, especially Sheets/Apps Script/Looker/BigQuery.
- Familiarity with accounting principles and practices is desirable.
- Comfortable challenging existing processes and implementing change.
- Excellent presentation skills and assertiveness.
- Driving licence is desirable.
