Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking experienced Organisational Development Consultants to join our dynamic team. The Organisational Design team is a key strategic enabling service that will help lead the change required to make our ambition of becoming an outstanding council a reality.
Every day will be different as you engage widely with directorates and HR colleagues. The newly formed OD team is vital for managing culture, transformation and workforce planning, ensuring strategic alignment, minimizing disruption and fostering a resilient, engaged workforce. The role creates real impact and service delivery by supporting leadership, culture and long-term planning.
Responsibilities
You’ll act as a trusted partner to leaders and teams, helping to turn strategic workforce ambitions into practical outcomes. By building relationships across the council, you’ll identify opportunities for improvement, support the delivery of key projects and share your expertise to help others navigate workforce change. A central part of your role will be championing the People Strategy, working to embed its principles into everyday practice, and using your influence to shape a culture where people feel valued, engaged and empowered to contribute. Through coaching, collaboration and a focus on inclusion, you’ll help create an environment where positive change is driven by our people, for our people, ensuring Sandwell Council is ready to meet both current and future challenges.
Qualifications
- Experience leading and advising on complex organisational and workforce change
- Strong knowledge of change management methodologies (e.g., ADKAR or Kotter) and organisational development principles
- Excellent communication, facilitation and analytical skills
- The ability to coach and support leaders and teams through change
- Flexibility to work across council sites and adapt to changing priorities
