Job Description

JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and compliance company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Bradford. We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours, allowing interested individuals to work either part‑time or full‑time.

Although we understand that some may travel further afield, we require all applicants to be within a reasonable commuting distance of Bradford.

This role offers potential earnings on a pro‑rata basis depending on the rate per appliance, the number of tests and job dynamics. Our jobs range from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts, allowing us to discuss all details and determine what works best.

To apply, you must have transport or means to get to work, equipment, hold a City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent, be reliable and honest, and have a ‘can‑do’ attitude. All necessary equipment, including testing instruments and measuring devices, must be kept up to date and meet relevant regulations.

If this Pat Testing Job in Bradford seems right for you, then please get in touch – we look forward to hearing from you.

A typical day of a portable appliance testing (PAT) engineer

As a PAT engineer, no two days are the same. From hospitals to retail outlets, you’ll work in a variety of locations and environments.

It starts with packing up tools and equipment – testers, record books – into the van before setting off to the first job.

On site you test appliances such as microwaves, kettles and computers, using instruments to check safety. You inform users of the results and explain why certain appliances may be unfit for use.

After testing, you record findings in a PAT test report book or electronic system and provide employers with a copy. You may also fill out additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.

Throughout the day you move from one location to another – either alone or part of a team – so you must stay organised and ensure all tests are completed accurately and efficiently.

It takes skill, experience and patience, but the rewards are great. You help keep workplaces safe and develop your own knowledge.

More than just a job – part of the JR family

Being part of JR is more than an income. You feel part of a family. Your well‑being is a priority and you are supported when personal issues arise. Friendly staff look after you. From the owner to colleagues – genuine support from a 30‑year veteran of every electrical discipline.
