Role: Erection Supervisors (Secondary steelwork erection, mechanical erection, piping erection) – Hinkley C power station project

Location: Hinkley C site near Bridgwater, Somerset (4-5 days/week on site)

Salary: £50000 – £75000 + 10% pension and travel

Start: June 2026 onwards

Reporting to: Construction Manager

Our client, a prestigious, internationally renowned engineering consultancy, is looking for experienced mechanical fitting / mechanical installation professionals, ideally with prior erection project experience, to work as Erection Supervisors (Secondary Steelwork, Piping, Mechanical) in support of their client’s delivery of their UK nuclear power station construction project.

These roles will be associated with the delivery of the turbine buildings for the project.

Candidates must have proven experience in the management of subcontractor personnel.

Whilst prior power station construction project experience would be preferable, candidates with supervisory experience obtained on other large construction projects (ideally regulated heavy industry) would be happy considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision of subcontractor personnel
  • Execution of the erection strategy
  • Execution of mandatory and conformity tests
  • Clearance of allocated punch items
  • Verification of correct and timely preparation of SWCF by subcontractors
  • Quality and EHS implementation
  • Support D2E initiatives (Dedication to Excellence)
  • Implementation of the Deviation Program
  • Reporting and Return of Experience (REX)

Supervision of Subcontractor Personnel

  • Ensure works are completed on time and in accordance with client specifications and quality requirements
  • Be familiar with subcontractor contracts and/or self-performance scope
  • Verify and report work performed by subcontractors and/or self-performance teams
  • Directly manage, supervise and coordinate piping erection personnel and resources
  • Explain and clarify erection documentation to piping erection teams (verbal and written)
  • Identify materials, tools and equipment required for piping works
  • Validate material request forms issued by subcontractors or self-performance teams
  • Ensure piping packages are ready for turnover to commissioning in line with schedule
  • Communicate with site erection management to resolve or clarify technical issues

Execution of Erection Strategy

  • Execute the erection strategy defined by the Overall Construction Manager and Mechanical Construction Manager, including planning aspects
  • Communicate with engineering to resolve or clarify technical issues
  • Ensure non-conformances, discrepancies and cost variances are properly reported and managed
  • Follow and close allocated FSI and NCR actions

Execution of Mandatory and Conformity Tests

  • Ensure ITPL and LAD are in order prior to commencement of piping works
  • Schedule and organise inspections and tests as per ITPL
  • Participate in CTO and TOP walkdowns
  • Check compliance and correct use of materials and consumables supplied by subcontractors

Clearance of Punch Items

  • Record and communicate outstanding works during erection inspections and walkdowns
  • Ensure punch list items are promptly resolved and signed off

Preparation of SWCF Documentation

  • Manage and maintain creation of as-built documentation within piping scope
  • Ensure quality records are completed, signed and compiled
  • Supervise creation of piping as-built documentation

Quality and EHS Implementation

  • Implement client EHS and Quality policies within relevant scope
  • Provide co-workers with information on hazards, risks and mitigation measures
  • Wnsure ITPLs are used correctly including spot checks
  • Coordinate quality control with Quality Department
  • Enforce EHS directives including work at height, lifting, lock-out/tag-out and mechanical safety
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks

Reporting

  • Prepare reports on progress, completed activities, forecasts, issues, subcontractor performance and EHS metrics

Education & Training

  • Diploma or certificate in a technical discipline
  • Subcontractor supervisory experience
  • Desirable: Formal internal training in power plant construction or engineering
