About the Role
Visa Compliance and Admissions Specialist plays a key role within the Admissions & Immigration Compliance team at this higher education institution. The role involves issuing CAS to incoming students, performing the necessary due diligence, and supporting the Head of Admissions and Immigration Compliance to ensure all aspects of the student lifecycle meet UKVI standards. It also provides admissions support throughout the application process, from initial application to offer-making. This senior role requires best practice implementation, process improvement, and a fair and transparent approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Issuing CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) and undertaking the necessary checks prior to issuance
- Assisting with attendance monitoring and other compliance-based tasks relating to current students
- Working with the Head of Admissions and Immigration Compliance on audit readiness
- Providing guidance to colleagues on matters relating to UKVI
- Handling admissions enquiries from prospective students, applicants and other external parties via telephone, email, UCAS, the applicant portal and/or Enrolment Advisers
- Processing applications to assess suitability for study at this accredited UK degree awarding higher education provider – from initial screening checks to offer-making with fairness and consistency
- Liaising with faculty staff regarding applications that are borderline or possess extenuating circumstances which require an academic decision
- Providing general guidance on the admissions process, advising on entry requirements, assessing fee status, checking academic qualifications and right to study
- Working closely with the Enrolment Advisors to ensure alignment in messaging and the successful gathering of any required documentation where necessary
- Ensuring admission records are complete and accurate, entering student data/information onto EBS and generating reports as required
- Supporting and attending open days, online events, enrolment, graduation and similar events
- Representing the employer at external events when required
- Taking a supervisory role during the Confirmation and Clearing period
- Assisting in the administration and awarding of scholarships
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will have experience of working in higher education admissions and with UCAS from an institutional perspective, an understanding of the UK education system and qualifications frameworks, and solid knowledge of international qualifications and education systems, including but not limited to the USA. They will also have knowledge of UKVI requirements and regulations relating to the admission of sponsored and non-sponsored students, experience with UKVI’s SMS, ideally as a Level 2 user. Demonstrable experience in delivering continuous improvements, ability to work to tight deadlines with changing priorities, and strong collaborative skills with direct team and wider colleagues are essential. Proficiency in MS Office with an aptitude for learning digital products, excellent communication skills and flexibility are required. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is mandatory. Desirable skills include use of Enroly CAS Shield and EBS (Tribal), knowledge of UKVI requirements for enrolled sponsored and non-sponsored students, and experience working with foundation providers and overseas agents from an admissions perspective.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
An additional Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.
