Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)

Bolton

£40,000 – £50,000 DOE

Shift Pattern: 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm Rotating

Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a busy plant/manufacturing environment in Bolton. The Role

As a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving plant and production machinery across site, ensuring downtime is minimised and equipment performance is maximised.

This is a hands‑on role requiring strong electrical fault‑finding skills, the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and confidence responding to breakdowns in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across plant and production equipment
  • Attend electrical and mechanical breakdowns quickly and efficiently
  • Fault finding on motors, drives, sensors, relays, and control systems
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical engineering drawings/schematics
  • Work on conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated machinery
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability projects
  • Assist with machinery upgrades, installations, and modifications
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and records
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced multi‑skilled maintenance engineer with an electrical bias
  • Happy working within a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics
  • Strong breakdown and fault‑finding experience
  • NVQ Level 3 / HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG, industrial, or plant environments
  • Basic PLC fault‑finding experience advantageous
  • Proactive, hands‑on attitudeAble to work both independently and as part of a team
