We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Gym Manager to oversee daily operations at our fitness centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for promoting health and wellness. This role involves managing staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining the overall smooth running of the gym environment. The Gym Manager will play a pivotal role in driving membership growth, managing administrative tasks, and fostering a positive atmosphere for both staff and members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the gym team, including trainers and administrative staff, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
  • Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, facility maintenance, and safety compliance.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to increase membership numbers and promote additional services such as personal training or merchandise.
  • Manage member relations by addressing enquiries, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring an excellent customer experience.
  • Organise schedules for staff shifts, classes, and special events to optimise utilisation of resources.
  • Monitor financial performance through budgeting, reporting, and analysing sales data to meet organisational targets.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations within the facility.
  • Foster a motivating environment that encourages team development through coaching and training initiatives.
  • Handle administrative duties such as record keeping, correspondence, phone etiquette, and organisational documentation.

Qualifications

  • Proven management experience within a fitness centre or retail environment is essential; supervising experience is highly preferred.
  • Flexibility in shift availability, covering weekends when required.
  • Demonstrable skills in team management, sales management, and leadership are required to effectively motivate staff and achieve organisational goals.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with diverse clients.
  • Experience in merchandising, time management, administrative tasks, and organisational skills are vital for maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Prior exposure to retail management or customer service roles will be beneficial in delivering exceptional member experiences.
  • Candidates should possess excellent phone etiquette along with organisational skills that support multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
