Job Description:

Equans is looking for a Security Officer to join our team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, B15 2WB on a permanent basis. This is a full‑time position working 42 hours per week. An annual salary of £29,290.00 and a benefits package are offered.

Shift Pattern: 12‑hour shifts – 2 days from 07:00 to 19:00, 2 nights from 19:00 to 07:00, 4 days off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols to ensure the security of all hospital areas.
  • Monitor security cameras and alarms to identify potential security risks.
  • Respond to emergencies, including medical emergencies and security breaches.
  • Assist with the management of access control systems and visitor management procedures.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff and local law enforcement agencies as necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors and staff members.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Applicants with prior security, law enforcement or military experience are preferred.
  • Clear DBS standard level clearance.
  • Hold an SIA Licence.
  • Full 5 years address history.
  • Full 5 years work or education history.

Preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
  • Additional training in security or related fields is a plus.
  • Display customer‑focused behaviour.
  • Demonstrate respect, flexibility and confidence.
  • Awareness of healthcare environment sensitivities.
  • Making a difference by contributing to the safety and well‑being of patients and staff.
  • Basic IT literacy, including confidence using computers, e‑mail and security systems.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate reports and incident logs.
