Position: Registered Mental Health Nurse

Salary: £36,943 – £44,900 per annum (inclusive of allowances) – Yearly

We are seeking registered mental health nurses to join our forensic team. This role is created as part of a recent service review. You will be part of a team committed to delivering high‑quality, safe care to a complex patient group with challenging individual needs. If you are a registered nurse with mental health experience and a passion for forensics, we would like to hear from you. Overseas nurses are not considered for this vacancy.

Main duties of the job

• Establish and maintain communication with patients, carers and staff about difficult or complex matters, overcoming any communication barriers.

• Develop own knowledge and skills and contribute to the development of others.

• Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in the work area.

• Contribute to the implementation of services and quality improvement initiatives.

• Promote equality, diversity and rights.

• Assess care needs of people whose needs are relatively stable and plan, deliver and evaluate programmes of care accordingly.

• Participate in partnership working with individuals, groups, communities and agencies.

• Lead and support others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice.

• Plan, allocate, assess and provide feedback to team members.

• Maintain and support the efficient use of physical and/or financial resources.

Person specification

Qualifications and Training

  • Registered Nurse in Mental Health on the NMC Register (sub‑part 1 RN3 or RNMH, sub‑part 2 RN4)
  • Current portfolio of evidence that aligns with the NMC revalidation process
  • Participation in a preceptorship programme
  • Diploma or degree in mental health nursing
  • ENB 770 or equivalent specialist qualification
  • NVQ assessor competency
  • Relevant post‑registration health‑care qualifications
  • Leadership & coaching qualification

Experience

  • General mental‑health experience gained through a nursing university programme or work experience
  • Previous experience in a forensic setting or equivalent
  • Evidence of inspirational leadership

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in mental‑health nursing practice and current trends
  • Understanding of the Code of Professional Conduct and the requirements of the Mental Health Act
  • Awareness of professional and organisational developments
