Main purpose of the role
Simmons Adaptive are seeking a Commercial Contracts Lawyer, commencing as soon as possible for a 7‑month maternity leave cover for a global banking client. This is a full‑time opportunity, working a hybrid model with 2 days in their London office.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review and amend clauses in contractual agreements (facility agreements, customer contracts, etc.).
- Advise the business on such clauses and related sanctions risks.
- Work on regulatory issues including filing disclosures, breach reports and licence applications.
- Support the wider regulatory and advisory teams on sanctions and advisory matters including trade sanctions, client due diligence and transaction referrals.
Person specification
- You are a qualified lawyer from a leading private practice, as well as in‑house experience.
- Ideally 5‑10 years PQE, open to more senior candidates.
- Strong commercial contracts lawyer.
- Experience with amending and negotiating contracts (ideally financing / financial agreements).
- Experience within a bank, financial institution or regulated industry is required.
- Effective stakeholder manager (managing internal business contacts as well as external lawyers/clients).
- Sanctions experience ideal, but this can be taught.
- Pragmatic and navigating what can be compromised and accepted.
- You will be required to hold the relevant right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
