Anthropic Fellows Program – ML Systems & Performance

An innovative fellowship that offers 4 months of full‑time research, mentorship from Anthropic scientists, and the opportunity to work on empirical projects using external infrastructure.

What to Expect

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments using external models and APIs aligned with Anthropic research priorities.
  • Produce a public deliverable such as a research paper or open-source software.
  • Collaborate with mentors and cross‑functional teams to refine research questions and methodologies.
  • Engage in weekly research discussions and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Fluent programming in Python.
  • Strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics.
  • Motivated to contribute to safe and beneficial AI for society.
  • Experience building large‑scale ML systems, high‑performance computing, or training large language models.
  • Ability to implement ideas quickly and communicate results clearly.
  • Thrives in fast‑paced, collaborative environments.

Additional Strengths (Nice to Have)

  • Background in economics, social sciences, or cybersecurity relevant to a specific workstream.
  • Prior research or engineering experience in a related domain.

Logistics

  • Must have work authorization in the US, UK, or Canada and be located in that country during the program.
  • Eligible to work from London or Berkeley; remote options are also considered.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must hold valid work authorization.
  • Program duration is 4 months full‑time; extensions may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Compensation

Weekly stipend of 3,850 USD / 2,310 GBP / 4,300 CAD, with expected 40 hours per week.
