Maintenance Engineer / Reliability Engineer
BarnsleySalary: £44,000 + Overtime Available
Shift Pattern
Monday – Thursday6:00am – 4:00pm(4 x 10-hour day shifts)
We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established manufacturing business in Barnsley working a permanent days‑based shift pattern with only four days a week.
Role Overview
This role would suit an electrically biased engineer who enjoys a mix of hands‑on maintenance, reliability improvement work, and continuous improvement projects. The position offers a strong balance between reactive maintenance and longer‑term engineering improvements focused around machine reliability, downtime reduction, and site performance.
Responsibilities
- Electrical and mechanical maintenance on production and automated machinery
- Root cause analysis to identify and eliminate recurring faults
- Supporting continuous improvement (CI) and reliability projects
- Assisting with machine upgrades, installations, and modifications
- Monitoring equipment performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Working to reduce downtime and improve overall plant reliability
Requirements
- Electrical bias maintenance experience within manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environments
- Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working on production or automated machinery
- Understanding of reliability, downtime reduction, or continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous
- Engineering qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or Apprenticeship beneficial
