Tax Accountant
Dale Farm is the largest UK farmer-owned cooperative, owned by 1,300 UK farmers. We supply a wide range of dairy products, including cheese, butter, dairy spreads, fresh milk and ice cream to consumers and as food ingredients into the UK, Irish and international markets.
Core to our success is our people, and we now have a new and exciting opportunity within our finance team for permanent Tax Accountant to join the Finance team, based at our Head Office in Belfast.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Group Finance, you will lead on matters relating to the groups tax environment, including reporting and compliance requirements. You will work collaboratively across the business to deliver high-quality tax and financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders. As a key member of the finance team, you will play an important role in a critical area for the business, contributing to exceptional outcomes while adding value.
The successful candidate will bring experience in managing a range of group tax activities, supported by strong technical expertise in taxation and accounting.
What youll be doing:
- Lead on all aspects of group tax activities, including corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, and customs. Report to internal and external stakeholders in this regard.
- Play a central role in intergroup accounting, including M&A activity, cross border transactions, and transfer pricing documentation.
- Support financial reporting, including statutory accounts and compliance submissions.
- Contribute to internal reporting cycles, including balance sheet reconciliations and other financial analysis as required.
- Work collaboratively across the finance team to ensure best practice and strong control environments in relation to tax and financial reporting.
- Provide commercial and operational business partnering and support as required.
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Drive continuous improvementacross systems, processes and controls, which supports the groups Digital Transformation project.
- Carry out other appropriate duties, as required.
What we are looking for:
- Qualified accountant with any of the internationally recognised professional accounting bodies (ICAI, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA etc).
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role. Experience in Agri/FMCG is desirable but not a necessity.
- Strong knowledge of taxation and statutory reporting (corporation tax, PAYE, VAT, customs etc.) To include knowledge of key reliefs and allowances.
- Experience with cross border trading and associated tax implications.
- Experience of compliance type workstreams, including reporting to HMRC and others.
- Experience of group reorganisations and corporate simplifications.
- Advanced financial modelling and data analysis skills; with excellent Excel capability.
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (desirable)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present information and issues in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborative approach with finance and non-finance teams.
- Ambitious, proactive and able to work under pressure to support decision making and problem solving.
- Right to Work in the UK (Sponsorship is not available)
