Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Locum Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology
The closing date is 31 May 2026
We are looking for a Locum Consultant with a specialist interest, passion, and drive to further develop and deliver our Diabetes and Endocrinology services. We currently have 2 Substantive Consultants and a Consultant Nurse in Diabetes and Endocrinology. We recognise the importance of a rewarding and sustainable job role especially given the high acuity and pressures associated with delivery of Acute Care. We are committed to supporting a healthy work life balance and will support options of flexible working, annualised job plans and less than full time working.
This role comes with the opportunity for the successful applicant (should they wish) to spend two sessions to further develop interests in other areas which may include another specialty service or alternatively medical education, clinical governance and quality improvement, clinical leadership or research.
Main duties of the job
The Locum Consultant will contribute to the delivery of specialist diabetes services. This may include dedicated involvement in antenatal diabetes care, preconception counselling, and transitional clinics for young people moving into adult services. These areas may sit alongside other specialist clinics but are recognised as key components of a comprehensive and forward-looking diabetes service.
In addition, the post offers an opportunity to support emerging service developments. Notably, there are plans to establish an insulin pump service within antenatal care. The successful candidate may be expected to contribute to this initiative, including providing clinical oversight and supporting community teams who may require additional guidance as the service is implemented.
