Role Responsibilities
- Deal Execution
- Actively lead execution deal teams, managing communication across internal stakeholders (senior and junior bankers, M&A and GMS advisory teams) and external parties (clients (CEO/CFO/Board members/PE partners, etc.), lenders, lawyers, advisors), formulating client advice, and overseeing the required supporting analysis.
- Provide structuring and tactical advice, evaluating a range of private and public debt solutions, and assessing their merits and considerations in the context of transaction dynamics. Includes bank debt, broadly syndicated TLBs, high‑yield bonds, unitranche, HoldCo PIK and preferred equity.
- Oversee the production of key transaction documentation.
- Support and lead the negotiation of legal documentation and commercial terms, both alongside and on behalf of clients – engaging directly with the MDs or Ds at lenders leading the transaction, and co‑ordinating with legal counsel.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery.
- Review lender proposals and counterproposals, structuring competitive processes to maintain tension and achieve optimal financing outcomes for clients.
- Provide ongoing client support, delivering hands‑on, end‑to‑end transaction advice.
- Credit Analysis & Documentation
- Oversee and contribute to the preparation and review of credit materials, including financial models, lender presentations, and third‑party diligence reports.
- Provide considered advice on the articulation of the client’s credit story, strategic financing objectives and rationale.
- Assess debt capacity and evaluate structuring options tailored to the client’s objectives.
- Client Interaction
- Present and engage in strategic discussions with clients.
- Support senior team members in relationship management, while also taking ownership of direct client interactions.
- Work directly with a broad client base, including private equity sponsors, non‑investment grade corporates, family‑owned businesses, and entrepreneurs.
- Market & Industry Research
- Conduct targeted research to support both marketing efforts and live deal execution.
- Leverage a wide range of information sources to generate insights into relevant sectors and market trends.
- Contribute to preparation and delivery of pitches.
Education and Qualifications
- A level or equivalent: ABB or above
- Degree or equivalent: 2:1 or above
Experience, Skills and Competencies Required
- Proven academic excellence
- Previous experience gained at a tier‑one financial services organization engaged in investment banking. Prior experience in debt advisory is not essential; we’re open to applicants with leveraged finance origination, private credit, legal, or credit ratings backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate clearly as well as persuade and influence others
- Deep understanding of corporate finance fundamentals, leveraged finance products and capital markets
- Motivated and driven to work in a fast‑paced environment and as part of a high‑performing team
- Effective relationship building skills with multiple stakeholders internally and externally
- Aptitude for ongoing personal and professional development
