Overview

Experienced Delivery Principal needed to deliver complex software programmes for financial services clients within a consultancy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of high‑value services, ensuring commercial performance, delivery outcomes and team success.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects and engagements, balancing commercial and delivery pressures and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Guide clients through discovery, requirement definition, build, test and live operation, shaping engagements for success.
  • Act as senior line of escalation for issues and drive resolution of commercial, technical and stakeholder challenges.
  • Mentor Delivery and Technical Leads, supporting career development and performance contracts for 10+ staff.
  • Generate additional business: deliver excellent service to secure repeat business, meet prospects, prepare proposals, pitch solutions and identify cross‑sell opportunities.
  • Support sales bids, thought‑leadership and networking to attract new business.

Business Development

  • Ensure clients receive excellent service and are motivated to recommend Softwire.
  • Meet prospective clients, devise project plans, prepare proposals and present pitches.
  • Think beyond individual projects to identify additional value for clients.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A demonstrable track record of successfully delivering challenging projects / programmes.
  • Delivery leadership experience within an agency, consultancy or financial services environment.
  • Experience managing teams of 10+ onshore staff.
  • Strong knowledge of modern software engineering practice (SDLC) and awareness of technical approaches and trends.
  • Interest in technology and how things are created.

Communication and Consultancy Skills

  • Lead meetings with senior external stakeholders.
  • Understand and give context to complex situations, drawing out key points and driving shared clarity.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues ranging from relationships to process and lead resolution.
  • Communicate and present, creating strong narratives to inform and empower decision‑making.
  • Develop strong client and internal working relationships.

Delivery Skills

  • Drive project kick‑off, clarify client requirements, uncover underlying needs, and guide to solutions.
  • Design a programme of work meeting timeline, team and budget constraints.
  • Directly manage Delivery and Technical Leads, ensuring effective workflows and governance.
  • Turn analytical insights into action, leading interventions when projects require them.
  • Know relevant SDLC tools and processes, Agile methodology, and commercial models (T&M, FP, etc.).

Package

Softwire operates transparent pay scales and a profit share scheme based on role and company performance.

  • Base salary: £92,100 – £103,700 (based on experience).
  • Profit share: average £15,000 – £20,000 depending on experience and performance.
  • Pension: Additional 5% of salary.
