Senior Cloud Engineer

Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Cloud/AWS Engineer to take ownership of a modern cloud platform for a fast-growing, well-funded startup operating at the intersection of AI, compliance, and fintech.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll architect, scale, and secure the AWS infrastructure that underpins an ambitious product roadmap. You’ll drive automation, champion platform reliability, and enable seamless developer workflows in a remote-first, engineering-led environment.

Salary: Up to £130,000

Location: Remote first (occasional meetups in London)

Stage: Early, well-funded, high-traction

Responsibilities

• Lead the evolution of AWS infrastructure into a production-ready, scalable, and secure platform.
• Build robust automation pipelines and self-service tooling to empower engineering teams.
• Drive a zero-trust security approach and embed strong compliance principles from the ground up.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, and tech leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with AWS at scale.
• Deep knowledge of cloud architecture, distributed systems, and platform automation.
• Proven track record using tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.
• Solid understanding of cloud security, governance, and regulatory compliance (e.g. SOC 2).
• A passion for building systems that are elegant, reliable, and easy to maintain.
• A proactive, curious mindset and a desire to improve how teams work, not just what they build.
• AWS certifications are a plus but not essential.
• Cloud & Infra: AWS ECS, PostgreSQL, Kafka (migrating from RabbitMQ), Terraform
• CI/CD: GitHub-based tooling
• Frontend: React
