Job Description:

Role: Sales Engineering Manager – Electrical Bias

Location: Central London

Type: Full-time, permanent, on-site

Salary: £95,000 – £105,000

We’re working with a specialist contractor delivering design, build and infrastructure solutions across critical environments.

They’re now looking for a Sales Engineering Manager to lead the front-end technical function across bids, tenders and client engagements. This is not a pure sales role. The focus is on technical solutioning, pre-construction, estimation, design input and helping shape robust, commercially sound proposals.

The role has a strong electrical bias, so you’ll need a solid background in power infrastructure, building services and critical systems. Previous data centre experience is essential.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take ownership of the technical input across early-stage opportunities, working closely with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal delivery teams. This will include reviewing client requirements, challenging specifications where needed, developing technical solutions, supporting pricing, producing bid documentation and presenting solutions back to the client.

You’ll also be involved in take-offs, BOQs, labour build-ups, value engineering, supplier engagement and handover into delivery once projects are secured.

Technical focus

The role is heavily centred around electrical infrastructure within critical environments, including:

  • LV/MV power distribution
  • UPS systems, generators, switchgear and transformers
  • Critical backup power and resilience strategies
  • Power monitoring and redundancy
  • Integration with cooling, HVAC and wider MEP services
  • Coordination with containment, structured cabling and white space fit-out

What they’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with a strong electrical engineering background, ideally from an M&E contracting, building services or critical infrastructure environment.

You’ll need experience across design, estimation, bids, pre-construction or technical sales engineering, with the ability to turn client requirements into practical, deliverable and commercially viable solutions.

Previous experience on data centre projects is a must, whether that’s hyperscale, colocation or other high-availability environments.

The key requirement

Whilst this role does not require “sales” experience, it would suit someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and confident leading technical conversations with clients and consultants. You’ll need to understand how electrical systems sit within wider MEP and data centre infrastructure, and be comfortable owning the technical solution from early engagement through to handover.
