Bariatric MDT Co-ordinator – South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
The role involves coordinating and providing administrative support to the Bariatric multidisciplinary team and other sub-speciality MDTs. You will coordinate seminar clinics, collate and record accurate, timely data, provide up-to-date information on patient pathways, and work closely with Consultant Surgeons, Specialist nurses, Dieticians, psychologists and secretaries.
Job Responsibilities
- Accurately compile and update a list of Bariatric patients for discussion during the MDT.
- Attend MDT meetings and document outcomes live in Meditech.
- Gather key patient information (notes, test results) in preparation for meetings.
- Prepare MDT data sets to ensure essential patient information is available.
- Coordinate meetings, dates, room bookings and agendas.
- Provide reports from Launchpad and maintain the bariatric database.
- Document MDT outcomes in Meditech and record action items.
- Provide updates on patient pathways.
- Coordinate seminar clinics, schedule patient entry/exit, and make follow‑up appointments.
- Communicate standard letters to patients and type nurse‑led clinic letters.
- Work with clinicians to ensure National Bariatric Standards are met for the MDT element.

Experience
- Working independently and as part of a team.
- Communicating accurately and empathetically with patients and relatives.
- Liaising with staff members at all levels.
- Experience using healthcare databases, systems and procedures.
- Basic understanding of clinical governance and risk management.
- Experience working with clinicians of varying seniority.
- Experience using Windows‑based software.
- Previous NHS experience.
- Basic knowledge of statistics and NHS governance.
- Experience in clinical audit, quality evaluation, research or risk management.
- Extensive knowledge of Meditech V6 System.
Qualifications
- Basic typing skills.
- Understanding of the 18‑week RTT standard.
- IT systems/software package proficiency.
- GCSE (Grade A‑C in Maths and English) or NVQ Level 3 in business administration, or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of self‑development.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Relevant data protection and security knowledge.
