Overview

We are seeking a Global Head of Oil Trading to lead and scale our crude and refined products platform. This individual will be responsible for setting global trading strategy, driving P&L performance, and managing a 35+ person multi-regional team across crude and refined products.

The role requires a senior commercial leader with a strong track record in physical and paper oil markets, deep global relationships, and the ability to operate across both trading and strategic leadership.

A background within a global commodity trading house, oil major, investment bank, or comparable trading environment would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the firm’s global oil trading strategy across crude and refined products
  • Manage regional trading teams across Europe, Americas, and Asia
  • Allocate capital across desks and optimize portfolio performance globally

Trading & Commercial Oversight

  • Oversee global trading books across crude, products, and derivatives
  • Drive PnZL generation through directional, arbitrage, and structured trading strategies
  • Ensure disciplined risk management across all regions and products

Origination & Relationships

  • Maintain and develop senior relationships with NOCs, IOCs, refiners, and key trading counterparties
  • Identify and execute large-scale physical and structured transactions
  • Support long-term commercial partnerships and strategic deals
  • Work closely with risk, compliance, and senior leadership to ensure robust governance
  • Set risk appetite, limits, and controls across trading activities
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements across jurisdictions

Platform Development

  • Expand and strengthen the firm’s global oil trading platform, including talent acquisition and desk build-out
  • Drive integration between physical and financial trading capabilities

Qualifications

  • ~15-20 years of experience in oil trading across crude and/or refined products
  • Proven leadership experience managing global trading teams
  • Demonstrated P&L track record at a senior level
  • Deep understanding of global oil flows, logistics, and market structure
  • Strong commercial network across producers, refiners, and trading houses
  • Strategic mindset with ability to operate at both desk and executive level
